Male Spotted Turtles will have more black colouration on their plastrons, while females will typically have less. Females may also be more brightly coloured than the males with bright yellows, oranges and reds being visible around the head, see figure 2 & 3.

Spotted Turtles are sexually dimorphic, males are typically larger and have concave plastrons, while females are smaller and have flat plastrons.
